By Boat

Germany has a lot of beautiful lakes and rivers, and the Rhine is the country’s most traveled waterway. Most visitors prefer to see the castles on the Rhine from the deck of a passenger liner. There are many cruise ships that run on the Main River between Mainz and Frankfurt, he Main-Danube canal, open since 1992, makes it possible to sail 3,500 miles from the North Sea to the Black Sea through the middle of Europe. In Dresden, there are oldest operating white fleet offering sailings on the Elbe, Regensburg and Passau.

In Germany, there are also day cruise ships on Lake Constance; they link Austria, Switzerland and Germany and permit you to bring your bags on board. But if you want to see some of Germany’s most spectacular scenery without worrying about luggage, consider taking a luxury river cruise liner.
