Germany is located in the western central area of Europe, lying between latitudes 47° and 55° N and longitudes 5° and 16° E. It is bordered on north by Denmark, on the east by Poland and the Czech Republic, on the south by Austria and Switzerland, and on the west by France, Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Its total area is the 357,021 km2, being the largest country in Central Europe. Germany comprises 16 states that are very diverse due to its location. The country’s capital the largest city is Berlin, one of the most influential cities in the world, powerful in many aspects such as technological advances, pharmaceuticals, biomedical engineering, biotechnology, electronics, traffic engineering, and renewable energy.
