Drinking in Germany: Wine


Wine regions in Germany are really beautiful, being one of the most attractive places to visit for tourists. Many of them are concentrated near to Frankfurt metropolitan area, close to Cologne, Heidelberg, Stuttgart and Würzburg.
In Germany are produced the lightest white wines of the world, they are low in alcohol and delicately balanced. The climate of the wine regions is one of the main factors that contribute to the unique character of the wines. The only way to appreciate the special flavor of German wines, is tasting them one by one, so you will notice the differences which distinguish for example a Rhine wine from a Mosel wine.
Wine Classification
- Table wine: Made just for local consumption, not for exportation
- Country wine: These wines play an important role in the export market
- Qualitätswein mit Prädikat: Wines of high quality, there are 6 levels:
- Kabinett
- Spätlese
- Auslese
- Beerenauslese
- Trockenbeerenauslese
- Eiswein
