Festivals in Dresden
Dresden is a city plenty of traditions and impressive festivals which are celebrated every year. There are two important musical festivals: The Dresden Music Festival and the Dresden Festival of Contemporary Music. A special place has the famous Dixieland festival, Europe’s biggest Jazz Festival that attracts many jazz fans of the entire world.
Other important festival is the Elbhangfest that is celebrated each last weekend of June in the region between Loschwitz and Pillnitz. This festival has more than 200 different events of art such as concerts, recitals, dance and other special events for children.
Dresden is also a city with many talented people for films, a proof of that is the Filmfest Dresden, an international film festival where are shown short films and documentaries.
In December, many visitors arrive to the city for the Striezelmarkt, the oldest Christmas market of Germany. In this market are sold beautiful wooden toys and ceramic pieces from Upper Lusatia.
