The Euro

In 2002 with the introduction of the Euro (€) as official currency of the European Union, Germany had to change its official currency, until then The Deutschmark (DM), for the Euro. Currently the DM is not accepted in Germany.

Euro notes come in denominations of 5,10,20,50,100,200 and 500

Coins are often used for parking, meters, launderettes and tolls. Coins of 1, 2 and 5 cents are copper-colored; coins of 10, 20 and 50 cents are gold-colored; 1 and 2 euro coins are gold-and-silver colored.
