The Roman-Germanic Museum




This is one of the most popular museums in Germany located in the heart of Cologne. The Roman Germanic Museum shows many artifacts from the Roman settlement discovered in Cologne, being the most important the Dionysus mosaic dates from 230 AD. The mosaic is beautifully decorated with many pieces of limestone and ceramic, it is 70 square meters.
Other highlights of the museum are the tomb of Poblicius with about 15 meters high, the Praetorium that is a palace of the Roman governors, and many Roman antiquities such as Roman glasses, pottery and jewelry. In the museum is shown few non-Roman pieces like the “mikveh” and other prehistoric items.
