Best of Cologne


Cologne is the oldest city of Germany and posses many attractions which show its historic past. In the city you can find important masterpieces, some of them being world heritage like the Cologne Cathedral.
- Cologne Cathedral
Cologne Cathedral is a beautiful church built since 1248 to 1880 on the site of a Roman Temple. It has finest aspects of Gothic architecture, being its towers the maximum expression of this style.
- Philharmonic Concert Hall
The Philharmonic Concert Hall was built in 1986, next to the Cologne Cathedral. This is an important concert hall where more than 400 events, such as festivals, jazz sessions, symphonic music repertoire and other variety of international productions, take place.
- The Roman-Germanic Museum
This is one of the most popular museums in Germany located in the heart of Cologne. The Roman Germanic Museum shows many artifacts from the Roman settlement discovered in Cologne, being the most important the Dionysus mosaic dates from 230 AD.
- The Wallraf-Richartz-Museum
The Wallraf-Richartz Museum is the oldest museum in Cologne; it has a wide classical picture gallery that dates from the middle ages. It is divided in departments, in the baroque department exists paintings of Rubens and Rembrandt.
- Cologne Parks
In Cologne there are two park areas, the inner park is easier to contact for tourists and the most notable parks are Volksgarten, Hiroshima-Nagasaki, and Stadtgarten. Many people go to the parks not just for its good ambience; they also go for the beer garden associated to the park.
