Berlin Love Parade

The Love Parade is the greatest global dance event in Berlin. It was created, 4 months before the demolition of the Berlin Wall, in 1989 by the German DJ Dr Motte as a demonstration for peace, love and tolerance between different nations. This parade began with one truck and 150 people; every year this number was increasing until 40 trucks and hundred of thousand people who are dancing through Berlin streets. In fact, in 1996 the parade was so large that the organizers had to move it and change the original route. Currently the new route is from the Ku'damm shopping avenue to the Tiergarten Park where the Brandenburg Gate is.

In the Love Parade many people show an extravagant appearance with exhibitionist clothes and makeup. This festival is usually quite calm, without vandalism or crimes; the police of Berlin are in charge to maintain the security and order. The music played is usually electronic, dance music and techno; the party is extended until the evening and then everybody joins to an after party.
Despite its high popularity, the parade was cancelled in the years 2004 and 2005 because organizers couldn’t raise enough money; it seemed the end of the Berlin Love Parade. But, in 2006 the love parade made its triumphal comeback with the name of the Love is back more than 1,200,000 people arrived to Berlin to celebrate the event return. Other versions of Love Parade were made in cities like Tel Aviv, Mexico City, Acapulco, Vienna, Cape Town, San Francisco, Leeds, Sydney and Santiago with a good reception of their citizens.
