• Gasthausbrauerei Ambräusianum, Dominikanerstrasse 10
  A nice brewery bar recommended for beer aficionados. There are also good food and the standard south German fayre with a decent selection. Open from 10:00 to 24:00.


• Fässla, Obere Königstrasse 19/21
  This brewery and its “dwarf” trademark date back to 1649. There you can find overnight accommodation and a lively, traditional atmosphere. Open 9am to 11pm, closes Sundays at 1pm.


• Greifenklau, Laurenziplatz 20
  This brewery is the smallest in Bamberg. It is a lovely old tavern with a shady beer garden. Open 9am to 11pm, closes 2pm Sundays.


• Kaiserdom, Breitäckerstrasse 9
  This brewery is the largest in Bamberg. It is a modern plant that projects a much more modern image than the other Bamberg breweries. Closes Thursdays,


• Keesman, Wunderburg 5
  It is a brew-pub with a dedicated local following, traditional atmosphere and light, airy rooms. Beer garden is in the courtyard. Closes Saturdays from 3pm.


• Mahr's Bräu, Wunderburg 10
  It is an excellent brewery where beers are served direct from wooden barrels. The beer garden is in the courtyard with a good weather and ancient chestnut trees.


• Zum Spezial, Obere Konigstrasse 10
  It is a brewery-guesthouse recognized as one of the classic pubs of Bamberg with a traditional atmosphere and good value accommodation. Open 9am to 10pm, closes 2pm on Saturdays.


• Brauerei Heller ('Schlenkerla'), Dominikanerstrasse 6
  This must be the most pleasant tourist trap in the world. Powerful and very clean Rauchbier in a very old-fashioned Gaststätte. Closes Tuesday.


• Brauerei Maisel, Moosstrasse 46
  It is a very good "bock" bier. Fast, friendly service and lively atmosphere. Its decoration is very nice and clean, the food is also wonderful.


• Bamberger Weissbierhaus, Obere Königstrasse 38
  Nice place, smallish and cozy compared to Spezial, etc. Everything is well-done, good value simple accommodation. Closes Tuesdays
