Many of Bamberg's best restaurants are in the hotels. The brewery-owned restaurants (Brauereigaststätten) and their associated beer gardens (some on site, others, usually much larger, on the hills above the town) are the obvious places for solid, good-value food accompanied by locally made beer. Note that, as well as the ones we've listed, there are others which also incorporate a hotel and are therefore included in the hotel section. The city also hosts several worthwhile festivals and keeps up a strong musical and theatrical tradition.
